If you sign in with Google, we receive basic account information through the sign-in flow — your name, email address, and basic Google profile identity. We use it to create and authenticate your K-Beauty Database account, to identify you while you are signed in, and to provide account features such as saved manufacturers. Saved manufacturers are stored as the manufacturer’s registration number linked to your account. We do not request access to any other Google data.
We measure how the site is used, ourselves — pages opened, searches run, filters applied, manufacturers viewed or saved, and the steps of the subscription flow. So that visits can be counted without identifying anyone, each record carries a short-lived pseudonymous identifier derived by hashing your IP address, browser user-agent and the current date together with a secret held on our server. That identifier changes every day and cannot be reversed; your IP address itself is not stored. Search terms are kept — they are company names and registration numbers — but any text containing an “@” is discarded rather than recorded. We use no cookies or browser storage for measurement, and no cross-site or advertising tracking of any kind. Signing in sets a cookie, which exists only to keep you signed in.
Alongside that, our hosting provider Vercel measures general traffic for this site — page views, which pages, referring site, approximate location, device type and browser. It sets no cookies and identifies a visitor by a hash of the incoming request, which is discarded after 24 hours, and it does not collect information that could reconstruct a browsing session across other websites. We send it no custom events, and the address bar is trimmed to the page path before anything is reported, so what you searched for is never passed on to it.
